Community education and participation are essential in the effective prevention of malaria, dengue and other vector-bone diseases. Effective communication tools can therefore be extremely important in ensuring sustainable results.
As an active member of the global Vector Control community Bayer takes an innovative and proactive approach in sharing its knowledge, news and other useful information with disease control programmes, NGOs and concerned communities. |
- Bayer has developed cartoon booklets called “K-O Kid” and “Juma” to show children, in an accessible and interesting format, how to properly use bed nets, prevent being bitten by mosquitoes and recognise the early signs of malaria. These comics have been developed to be understood by people of all ages and educational levels.
- We also suggest videos and CDs on issues such as vector biology, disease and control measures for malaria, Chagas and dengue fever. These materials have been used during workshops sponsored by Bayer, on subjects such as resistance management, dengue vector management and space spray use.
- Uniquely in the industry, the Bayer Public Health Journal has been issued since 1985. This annual journal addresses issues relating to vector and pest control and their effects on public health, with informative articles that focus on important real world issues written by different experts in the field.
