Indoor Residual Spraying Workshop in South Africa

Recently Bayer, along with AngloGold Ashanti, sponsored a private sector workshop in Johannesburg to discuss the benefits of the inclusion of indoor residual spraying (IRS) in corporate malaria control programmes. The two day workshop, which was convened by GBCHealth and the Roll Back Malaria Partnership (RBM), aimed to expand public-private IRS partnerships as part of the combined efforts to end malaria deaths in Africa and elsewhere.

“At Bayer, we value environmental quality and human health very highly, and work to ensure that our public health insecticides used in IRS programs will not harm the environment or those who look to Bayer to protect their loved ones from infection,” said Sylvestre Jobic, Bayer County Group Head for Sub-Saharan Africa. “Our continuous investment in new public health insecticides that will meet future challenges speaks to Bayer’s commitment to the long term fight against malaria.”
