Together we are strong enough to eliminate vector-borne diseases
Research & Development
London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world's leading research and postgraduate teaching institutions in the field of public health. Bayer works in collaboration with LSHTM to conduct laboratory and field evaluations of new products through privately funded research trials and as a WHOPES Collaborating Centre. Each year we also provide support to Masters students who are undertaking research in the field of vector-borne disease.
The Innovative Vector Control Consortium
The Innovative Vector Control Consortium (IVCC) works to improve health outcomes by supporting the development of new vector control tools, increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of disease-transmitting-insect control and ultimately saving lives.Bayer is proud to be part of the IVCC since 2008. From this collaboration, we have successfully brought a longer lasting indoor residual spray formulation K-Othrine PolyZone, through the WHOPES process.
Institut de Recherche pour le Développement
Bayer collaborates with the French research organisation Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD), more specifically the Laboratoire de Lutte contre les Insectes Nuisibles. The institute, unique in Europe, addresses international development issues. The Montpellier IRD centre specializes in biology and the control of disease vectors.
Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine
Bayer cooperates with Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), the first institution in the world dedicated to tropical disease. LSTM is one of the main international postgraduate centres devoted to research in order to combat malaria, dengue, lymphatic filariasis, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and other diseases.
Roll Back Malaria
The Roll Back Malaria (RBM) Partnership is the global framework for a malaria-free world, uniting more than 500 partners and implementing coordinated actions against the disease. Bayer is represented in the private sector delegation on the RBM Board and is active with experts in the various RBM Vector Control working groups.
IRAC is an international group of more than 150 members of the Crop Protection Industry, organised by sector and region, to advise on the prevention and management of insecticide resistance. IRAC facilitates communication and education on insecticide resistance and promotes development of resistance management strategies. This important role helps to maintain insecticide efficacy and sustainable vector control in public health.
Network and Advocacy Organisations
GBCHealth is a coalition of companies and organizations committed to investing their resources to make a healthier world for their employees, for the communities in which they work and for the world at large. The mission of GBCHealth is to leverage the power and resources of the private sector to meet today’s most pressing global health challenges, with a focus on high-priority health goals and lower-resource settings where business can make a powerful positive impact. GBCHealth also has the private sector focal point role with the Roll Back Malaria Partnership, the Global Fund and the Corporate Alliance on Malaria in Africa (CAMA).
